Proposed Consumer Rights Reform - EDP Thursday 13th June

Fosters Senior Associate and Litigation Solicitor Chris Fielding comments in EDP news article, Proposed consumer rights reform welcomed as 'a bold step forward'

Chris Fielding described the proposed legislation as "a bold step forward". He said: "At Fosters part of my departments work is to deal with a high volume of wide ranging matters that can broadly be described as consumer complaints.

"Most firms will tend only to be more hands-on with problematic good and services with a relatively high value, but at Fosters we routinely advise individuals who have paid for more modest goods or services, had a terrible experience and basically then want discrete advice about what to do to put things right.

"This is obviously after their own attempts at resolving matters have been unsatisfactory which suggests that the current system is not something that everyone can easily navigate."

He said the bill was definitely being talked about as a major shift towards empowering customers and genuinely giving them the means to get proper satisfaction.
