If you have suffered an injury as the result of a criminal act you may be able to claim compensation.

The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) can make awards for injuries and other losses up to a maximum of £500,000 for the most severe cases. Even if an offender is not identified, caught or convicted, a CICA claim may still succeed.

We understand the impact these injuries can have on your day-to-day life and your future. Our experts are vastly experienced in helping you assess if you can make a valid claim and support you through the necessary process.

How we can help

We want to work with you to achieve the best possible outcome for your claim.

We understand you will want to know how we can assist, so we offer a free of charge no obligation first meeting or chat, which we follow up with a full letter of advice. If you are in any doubt as to whether you have a claim, please do contact us, again completely without obligation.

We are also able to discuss how you can cover the cost of a claim, including through a ‘No Win, No Fee’ agreement.

More about the CICA

There are limitations to those that can make a claim to CICA. You can make a claim provided:

  • you were injured in England and Wales after 1st April 1964; and
  • you make a claim within two years of the incident (this can be waived in exceptional circumstances).

However, the CICA can reduce or withhold an award if you:

  • contributed to your injury as a result of your conduct or behaviour;
  • failed to co-operate with the police in the prosecution of the offender (although a prosecution is not always necessary);
  • have a significant criminal record.

Our key partnerships

We are accredited members and supporters of a variety of campaign and charity organisations, who help provide advice and support to those who have suffered injury.

Recognised and recommended

Both our Personal Injury and Crime & Defence teams are recommended by The Legal 500 UK.

We have extensive experience and knowledge across a wide range of criminal injury claims and cases – and if during the course of our investigations we find that you have grounds for other legal action, we will advise you as to the likelihood of pursuing a successful claim against such other parties.

In my opinion your services were excellent and no need for improvement. Stephen and his team were very efficient and informative. He listened to me very attentively and remembered all the details.
