Fosters to support Headway concussion project

We are delighted to be partnering with local charity, Headway Norfolk & Waveney on a forthcoming project to support concussion awareness.

Headway is the UK-wide charity that works to improve life after brain injury by providing vital support and information services. Fosters’ Personal Injury team are proud members and supporters of Headway, with Partner Steve Green also a panel member for their Norfolk & Waveney and Suffolk branches.

The trial project, which will be officially launched later this year, will look to provide additional support to outpatients who have suffered a concussion. Such specialised support for concussion injury is not prevalent within the Norfolk and Waveney area, and it’s hoped that this initial trial project will go some way to help alleviate this gap in provision.

Michael Kitching, Chief Executive Officer of Headway Norfolk & Waveney explains: “People who have suffered a mild concussion often receive a varied and limited amount of information regarding aftercare and the potential of developing post-concussion syndrome.

“We are therefore grateful for the support of Fosters, which has enabled us to get this trial project up and running, and very-much look forward to working with them on this project over the coming months. This will enable us to provide much-needed support to people across the Norfolk and Waveney region, distributing key information about managing brain injury and the associated physical and mental health problems.”

Fosters’ Head of Personal Injury & Group Actions, Steve Green added: “As trusted legal advisors for head injury cases, we are very proud to be supporting Headway Norfolk & Waveney and working with them on this new project, which will focus on identifying those who have suffered a concussion injury but are often unaware of its potential effects.”

This news comes during Action for Brain Injury Week 2022 (16th to 22nd May), which this year is raising awareness and understanding of the often misunderstood symptoms of a brain injury, and for what can be for many brain injury survivors, a hidden disability.

On Friday 20th May, Fosters’ staff will also be participating in the annual ‘Hats for Headway’ campaign, which will see them don hats to raise funds for the charity’s work.
