Commercial Team adds New Category to Legal 500 Rankings
Fosters’ Business and Commercial team have been recommended in three categories in The Legal 500 2021 UK rankings – including for the first time in the listings for Media, Entertainment and Sport.
Head of Business and Commercial Jamie Arnall is recommended in all three of these areas, as well as being highlighted as a ‘Next Generation Partner’. He’s joined by his colleagues Fiona Stuart and Charlotte Darkins in being recommended amongst the Corporate and Commercial listings for Norwich and Intellectual Property (IP).
Fosters are noted for having built a strong following for its outsourced in-house lawyer model, known as ‘In House’, based around the experience of Jamie, whose previous roles include being head of legal for a Premier League football club and senior legal counsel for a FTSE 250 business, and who works closely with fellow partner Fiona Stuart, who joined from Howes Percival LLP and whose primary focus is on insolvency and restructuring.
Through its in-house service, Fosters increasingly handles IP matters, including advice on global trade mark and brand strategy. The service provides an outsourced in-house legal capability and solicitor Charlotte Darkins is developing a niche IP specialism, advising on trade mark portfolio reviews, portfolio management and the transfer of IP rights. Among their clients are a British sports league and a well-known English football club.
Fosters joins the Media, Entertainment and Sport ranking this year for the first time having built on Jamie Arnall’s football experience to develop the firm’s ‘In House’ service. This provides legal support on a retainer basis and has proven popular with clients in the sports industry. The team has worked with Premier League and Championship football club clients, national sports governing bodies, top division sports leagues, sponsors, sports event management consultants and other industry stakeholders.
Speaking about his department’s rankings, Jamie Arnall commented: “We are delighted that the Business and Commercial team at Fosters has been recognised in the way that it has by The Legal 500. Coming off the back of winning the Law Society Award for Excellence in Business Development last year, in recognition of the way in which our In House product serves our clients, it was wonderful to see this recognition replicated in The Legal 500 rankings.”
‘Jamie Arnall regularly goes over and above what could be reasonably expected to ensure we receive the best possible service.’
‘Fosters make themselves readily available around the clock, and always manage to come through even when their workload is high and they are busy with other things, particularly when we need support urgently.’
‘We have engaged Fosters’ services for approximately two years. We have been hugely impressed by the level of service provided in all aspects of our interaction. The attention to detail, speed of response and understanding of our needs are always met. The level of service far exceeds anything I have received before from this sector.’
‘We feel extremely fortunate to be looked after by Jamie Arnall and Charlotte Darkins. We feel they both regularly go over and above what could be reasonably expected to ensure we receive the best possible service. Related to this, we’ve often received responses to urgent requests significantly out of office hours – such responses being comprehensive and valuable as if in office hours.’
‘We have found both Jamie Arnall and Charlotte Darkins to be able to quickly understand our needs and as such process any requests swiftly and at the first time of asking. Following a review of a contractual matter, they regularly take the time to go beyond the initial advice we have sought to raise other potential queries as to matters we may have missed. This has proved invaluable in many instances. Indeed, I would go as far as to describe them as indispensable to our business.’
‘Extremely diligent at every stage of our dealings, clear communication and accessible when we required information or assistance.’
