Community and Event News: May 2024

Throughout the year, Fosters Solicitors hosts and attends a variety of events in association with our business and community partners, as well as undertaking activities to support the well-being of our colleagues and our wider local community network.

Here’s what a productive and busy month of May had in store for us.

Brown & Co Quiz

Our Commercial Property, Residential Property and Litigation colleagues combined to form ‘Team Fosters’ at the Brown & Co Charity quiz, which helped raise £7.650 for Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.

Dying Matters Awareness Week

As part of this national week encouraging people to talk more openly about death, dying and grief, colleagues attended the ‘Never too early to start talking’ event at The Forum in Norwich, organised by Marie Curie and attended by a range of support organisations.

Lowestoft beach litter pick

Alongside our Community Partners, Lowestoft Town FC and Suffolk County Council, we organised a litter pick of Lowestoft beach, which saw coaches and players from both the club’s first team and Academy participate.

Amazing Fundraising!

Our partners, the Norwich City Fans’ Social Club announced their fundraising total for the 2023-24 season. After a number of events, they have raised £14,000 for the Community Sports Foundation, which brings them to an overall total of £73,000 since they began in 2015. A huge well done to them!

Wymondham Duck Race

The Early May Bank Holiday weekend saw the return of the Wymondham Duck Race, which we were delighted to support by sponsoring one of the races, ‘The Fosters Solicitors Duckton Abbey Chase’!

UEA networking event

We hosted the UEA Law Society for an introductory networking evening at our Norwich branch. Students attended and heard presentations from our colleagues Jordan Rodwell, Tyler Clayton and Hannah Dawson-Jones about their life in law.

Eastern Landlords Association AGM

We were delighted to again support the Eastern Landlords Association at their annual AGM/Expo.
The event sees members and non-members of the ELA come along to meet exhibitors and hear from guest speakers about specialist topics relevant to landlords. Ashley Roe from our Commercial Property team, Louise Gibbs-Kneller of our Wills, Trusts & Probate department and Tyler Clayton from our Litigation & Dispute Resolution team, all provided presentations on a range of key subjects surrounding leasehold extensions, the importance of having a valid Will and the Renters (Reform) Bill.

Mummery Cup Final

We joined our partners, the Anglian Combination Football League, for the Mummery Cup Final, where we celebrated our Grassroots Hero, Matt Ankers of Norton Athletic. Fosters Solicitors’ Chief Executive, Chris Brown presented Matt with his award, and also recognised one of our highly-commended runners-up, Angela Finch of Wells Town.

Norfolk Cricket partnership

The cricket season kicked off, with Norfolk County Cricket Club highlighting our associate partnership ahead of their win against Hertfordshire.

Private Client Modern Law Awards

We were delighted to have been shortlisted in three categories at the Modern Law Private Client Awards. Congratulations to our Wills, Trusts & Probate and Family Law colleagues, and everyone across our firm for their commitment to outstanding client care!

Hats for Headway

Hats off (or should we say hats on) to our Norwich, Wymondham and Lowestoft branches, who sported their favourite hats in support of our friends at Norfolk & Waveney Headway. The annual fundraising event takes place to help support the brain injury charity.

Mind volunteering at Stody Lodge

Our colleague, Debbie Woods joined Norfolk and Waveney Mind to volunteer at their refreshment stall at the Stody Lodge Classic Car Day. This is the third year colleagues have supported the charity at this event to help them raise money for their important mental health services.

The Den official opening

We were delighted to be invited to the opening of The Den, which is the brand-new family support hub of our charity of the year, Finnbar’s Force. The wonderful facility in Eaton will provide support for local families who have received a childhood cancer diagnosis.

Thank you, Janet!

Colleagues past and present came together to celebrate and thank Janet Hobbs, as she retired from the firm after 31 years. We all wish Janet much love and every happiness for her well-earned retirement. We will miss you!

Bringing the sunshine!

Sadly the sun was missing, but our colleagues tried to bring the summer vibes with our themed dress down day, all in support of our charity of the year, Finnbar’s Force.
