Fosters ranked a Leading Firm for Litigation and Dispute Resolution

Our Litigation and Dispute Resolution services have been recommended in four categories of The Legal 500 2021 listings, including for the first time within the regional ranking for Debt Recovery.

“We are delighted to retain a strong all-round litigation presence that acknowledges both our expertise in different litigation sectors and skill at settling complex claims outside the courtroom.” Commented Chris Fielding, Fosters’ Partner and Head of Dispute Resolution and Litigation.

The Legal 500 annually analyses the capabilities of law firms across the UK and the world – assessing their strengths in over 150 jurisdictions and producing rankings based upon research using feedback from 300,000 clients worldwide, submissions from law firms and interviews with leading private practice lawyers.

This year Fosters has been listed in 15 practice categories, including three for the first time, and has had a number of lawyers highlighted for special mention.

Commercial Litigation: Norwich

Fosters is noted for handling a broad range of litigation work for companies and individuals in Norfolk. Its work includes unfair prejudice petition claims, derivative claims, shareholder and partnership disputes, complex contractual claims, and matters relating to commercial property, professional negligence and construction projects. Fosters is listed as having a strong local reputation around Norwich, as well as providing services through its Lowestoft and Wymondham offices. The firm handles disputes arising from, inter alia, the administration of estates, conflicts between executors, challenges to the validity of wills, Inheritance Act claims and negligent advice on the drafting of wills. Contentious trust and probate matters constitute a significant proportion of the workload of Chris Fielding.

‘Fosters are a very professional team – I cannot fault them in any way.’

‘Communication within the team at Fosters is excellent – they keep things in perspective and act for clients in a very positive way. This firm has persistence that gets results.’

‘Chris Fielding listens and focuses on the facts assertively. He presents a case and selects evidence that underpins the truth and communicates in an understandable and straightforward way. He instils confidence for his clients and communicates progress every step of the way.’

Property Litigation

Fosters in Norwich has a long-established property litigation practice that acts for commercial and residential landlords throughout the region. Its landlord and tenant work includes possession claims, service charge disputes and forfeiture claims. The practice has a close working relationship with the Eastern Landlords Association.

‘The firm has depth of knowledge and an understanding of the problems.’

‘They are always approachable and respond quickly to queries. They support us in providing an excellent and well informed service to our members. They participated in meetings across the region out of hours for our members’ benefit. We have an extremely good working relationship.’

‘Before deciding to go with Fosters I did go and sit and speak with a few lawyers from different firms to gauge which company I wished to trust my boundary dispute with. The situation we found ourselves in was very unique and very personal due to it being against my partner’s family. Chris Fielding made us feel at ease immediately and took control of the meeting. The whole firm from top to bottom made us feel welcome and throughout my nearly three years of using Fosters I met a lot of people and went to different offices in both Norwich and Wymondham and each one the staff were outstanding from the receptionists through to Chris. They worked coherently with ease, which is essential given the complexity of litigation. They are all happy to be at work and you can sense that.’
