Injury Prevention Week - 17 to 21 August 2020

The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) regularly campaigns for better road safety and this year APIL is promoting an entire Injury Prevention Week to highlight the various steps we can all take to reduce the risk of avoidable road-related injury.

As an APIL member, Fosters are delighted to be supporting the initiative which starts today.

Every day people are needlessly injured in avoidable road traffic accidents. According to APIL, even the dramatic reduction in journeys being made during lockdown did not see the volume of traffic-related injury claims fall to the same extent. In fact, it has been suggested that quieter roads may actually have encouraged more reckless driving.

Previous APIL campaigns have focused on improving driving techniques and practices, which remains a core concern. However, this year the primary focus is on pedestrians, particularly the threat from reversing vehicles and the road safety awareness of school-age children – particularly relevant as the majority of children return to school in early September.

APIL will be sharing interesting research as well as practical information on reducing pedestrian injuries throughout the week, which we will he helping to share through our online platforms. We encourage you to join us in supporting APIL to reduce road-related injury by following the campaign and by spreading the message about Injury Prevention Week 2020.
