Marathon runner nominated as Community Hero

In partnership with Norwich City Football Club, we are delighted to announce Hayley Summerfield as our Norwich City Community Hero for the QPR fixture.

Hayley, who is a midwife at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, has been nominated by the club’s charity matchday partner, TimeNorfolk, having recently ran the London Marathon in aid of the charity.

TimeNorfolk provides free wellbeing professional support to women and families suffering from pregnancy loss through termination, miscarriage and stillbirth, and those struggling following traumatic birth.  The charity offers face-to-face support at any of their centres in Norwich, Great Yarmouth and King’s Lynn.

Fiona Gosden at TimeNorfolk said: “We’re delighted to select Hayley as our Community Hero following her achievement of running the London Marathon for TimeNorfolk.

Thanks to her raising awareness and support for us, we are able to reach more families across Norfolk.”

Hayley chose TimeNorfolk as her charity of choice because of how closely she works alongside the women and families who suffer loss, as well as the staff who provide support during this time.

Our Community Hero said: “I am pleased to say that I completed it and loved every minute – even the tough bits!

TimeNorfolk was the natural choice of charity to help fundraise for, due to my line of work at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, working closely alongside the women and families who suffer loss, and the staff who provide outstanding support during an incredibly difficult time.

It is hugely rewarding to know that a difference has been made by fundraising for this invaluable charity. Thank you to everyone who has helped support me with fundraising.

Thank you also to charity organiser, Ruth Kettle and the staff of TimeNorfolk for nominating me for the Norwich City Community Hero Award. The recognition really is appreciated.”

Since 2019, Fosters has joined our partners Norwich City Football Club in highlighting the great work of local individuals and organisations in our community. Every month during the football season, a ‘Community Hero’ is chosen for a selected matchday – providing an opportunity to showcase that person(s) or initiatives selfless work or important community campaign. Previous Community Heroes have included young carers, veterans, equality campaigners, charity fundraisers and their beneficiaries.
