NCFC Community Hero: Blackpool

Our Norwich City Community Hero for the Canaries’ final 2022/23 match of the season, is Cora Beecroft and her family, chosen by the club’s charity partner, Young Lives vs Cancer.

Young Lives vs Cancer is the UK’s leading charity for children and young people with cancer and their families.

When Cora was three, she started to seem really tired and run down, instead of her usual bright and cheerful self.

Shortly after, Cassie, Cora’s mum, arranged her an emergency doctor’s appointment when she was sick at pre-school and within two hours, she was sadly diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.

The next morning, Cora and her mum were driven by ambulance to Addenbrookes Hospital for Cora to start chemotherapy treatment. This was where the family met Richard, a Young Lives vs Cancer social worker who has been supporting the family.

Cora’s parents said: “We have been so blown away by the support we have received from the charity.

“With the help of Cora and her brother James, we have now started raising vital funds for the charity, so that they can help more families like us.”

Cora has always loved helping her mum in the community with charity work and the family has raised nearly £2,000 so far.

The family continued: “Cora is very determined and has remained happy and positive throughout all of her gruelling treatment, keeping the rest of her family strong.

James has been so loving and patient throughout her treatment, which has given us as parents a huge amount of comfort.

Elena Green from Young Lives vs Cancer said: “It is lovely for us to have the opportunity to nominate the family as a community hero at Norwich City.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Young Lives vs Cancer, so that we can continue support families just like Cora’s.

Since 2019, Fosters Solicitors has joined our partners Norwich City Football Club in highlighting the great work of local individuals and organisations in our community. Every month during the football season, a ‘Community Hero’ is chosen for a selected matchday – providing an opportunity to showcase that person(s) or initiatives selfless work or important community campaign. Previous Community Heroes have included young carers, veterans, equality campaigners, charity fundraisers and their beneficiaries.
