Volunteers nominated for match accolade

Ronnie Moulton and Sue Quantrill (centre) were nominated as NCFC Community Heroes.

This month’s Fosters Solicitors Community Heroes are Ronnie Moulton and Sue Quantrill, nominated by the Community Sports Foundation.

Since 2019, Fosters Solicitors have joined our primary partners Norwich City Football Club in highlighting the great work of local individuals and organisations in our community. Every month during the football season, a ‘Community Hero’ is chosen for a selected matchday – providing an opportunity to showcase that person(s), or initiatives, selfless work or important community campaign.

For Norwich City’s match against Sheffield Wednesday, Ronnie and Sue have been chosen as Community Heroes and will bring out the match ball ahead of the kick-off at Carrow Road.

The pair both volunteer at the Foundation and are an integral part of the community work the charity does.

They are best known for their work at Duncan’s Club, the Foundation’s support programme for people with dementia and those affected by it.

Duncan’s Club, named after Norwich City’s iconic former captain Duncan Forbes, is a weekly session that includes mild activity, which has been proven to slow shrinkage of the part of the brain that deals with memory.

Sessions are split into three delivery elements: Activate – to help participants stay physically active, Reminisce – using Norwich City as a stimulus to memory, and Talk – a social session with drinks and snacks.

A spokesperson from the charity said: “Each week they give up their Thursday mornings to engage with the group and put a smile on their faces through interactive games, quizzes, discussions and of course, a sing-along to ‘Sweet Caroline’.

“Their evergreen smiles and joyous charisma help to make Duncan’s Club the weekly celebration that it is – and it simply wouldn’t be the same without them.”

Do you know someone who deserves special recognition, or does something wonderful for their local community? If so, we’d love to hear your nomination for a future game, which can be put forward via the club’s website.
